See my journey is maybe not the most inspiring out there and certainly not similar to the weight loss reality shows you watched on the TV. But it is a real one and I bet many people go through the struggles I went through. I spent years and years trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. In the beginning I was really excited, lost few pounds, but that was about it. I didn't know what to eat and when, so I went through periods of starving myself just to lose less than a pound in few weeks and after that overeating and regaining the weight back. I was feeling so guilty every time that happened.
1. Not counting your calories - The first and maybe biggest mistake anyone does. I always thought it's what you eat that matter, not how much. Well, that's only partly true. You could eat the worst stuff and still lose weight. The other way around is true as well - you could eat the healthiest foods out there and gain weight. So the most important thing is to figure out how many calories you need to maintain, lose or gain weight. I thought it's really hard to figure out all those numbers and it's not worth it. But you should know - it takes about two hours to do it. That's it - you are two hours away from the secret ti success. I mean - how many different meals do you really have on regular basis? And do you know that most of them are similar in terms of calories? 150 gr. of chicken is almost the same as 150 gr. of tuna. Same goes for rice and potatoes. Once you figure out how many calories you should get and how many calories most of the meals are providing, it's really easy to be within your target range without even counting calories. You prepare your meal plan for a day or two and that's it. You want different meals every day? That's easy - just figure out which meal is similar to the other one and substitute them whenever you want to.
2. Not training properly - I don't care what's your kind of workout. Take the time and learn how to do it properly! Find a book, someone who knows what to do or better yet a fitness app. There are apps out there which explain in details what to do and how to do it properly, so you can get the results you want! Check out my list to see which one is the best for you.
